Takanaka has confirmed that he has recorded a song with American guitarist Cory Wong.
On the radio show “SAPPORO BEER OTOAJITO,” Takanaka finally confirmed the rumoured collaboration:
“I’m telling you this for the first time, but the overseas guitarist I recorded with is Cory Wong.”
“I’m aiming for the Grammy. I’ve only finished one song, so I’ll do a little more.”
Additional pressings of three popular vinyl reissues have been announced. Brasilian Skies returns on clear sky-blue vinyl, All of Me as two clear light-green LPs, and Takanaka on clear red vinyl.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Takanaka’s solo debut, his 1976 debut single Sweet Agnes is being reissued as a 12-inch, 45 RPM clear-blue vinyl.
The release reproduces the original 7-inch sleeve and pairs Sweet Agnes with Tokyo Reggie. Both tracks have been remastered and cut by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios.
Masayoshi Takanaka’s sold-out April 1, 2026 performance at London’s O2 Academy Brixton will be released in full on Blu-ray on August 12, 2026.
The limited edition includes two CDs containing the live audio from the same performance, along with a booklet.
Takanaka’s legendary Rainbow Goblins Story concerts, held at Nippon Budokan on March 10 and 11, 1981, are being released as a standalone audio work for the first time.
The limited three-LP set is pressed on clear lime-yellow, clear red and clear blue 180g vinyl. A photo-filled booklet and a reissue of the original poster are also included.
